Testimonials
I worked with Helen from 2005 to 2010 on several manuscripts, providing text that she was able to edit and make suitable for high level academic publication. She pays particular attention to the flow of logic in a set of experiments and in academic reasoning and will look up references in order to fully comprehend the text. This resulted in a high standard of prose writing which was straightforward to understand and led to publication. Because of her significant contribution she was also included as an author. In several cases she was able to spot that an important conclusion had been emphasised insufficiently and was therefore able to make the results more significant by applying her own Philosophical thought and expertise during the editing process. During that time Helen was working as a software engineer in the Genetic Epidemiology laboratory of Professors Bruce Ponder, Doug Easton and Paul Pharoah, and she was able to engage with me as a scientist during that initial period when it was necessary to learn spoken English very rapidly; she was a research biochemist before becoming a programmer. I was sorry to lose Helen as an editor when she had to move on to other duties, and am pleased that she is copy editing for scientific manuscripts once more.

Helen has provided us with technical manuals for a critical database solution used in house for accountable tracking of human tissue samples (Tissue Bank Database). Her work was of an exceptional standard, with attention to grammar and English language, as well as explaining each part of the software flawlessly. This task involved closely working with the software itself, and as a programmer she was able to provide minute detail for each data entry point, working with Word and inserting pictures (screenshots) and contents for navigation. She also wrote a manual and several How-tos for other programmers investing in the system. A sales presentation with thoughtful graphics and clear presentation of the offering was produced also, and resulted in great interest from the potential client. I would definitely recommend Helen as a highly versatile, creative and conscientious technical writer with a lot to offer.
